British Passport Dallas

The city of Dallas and the surrounding metropolitan area is the most populous metropolis in the southern United States and fourth-most populous in the United States.  The Dallas metropolitan area—known as the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, or DFW by local residents—has a population of 7.6 million people and includes the cities of Fort Worth, Arlington, Plano, Irving, Garland, Frisco, Mesquite, Denton, Grand Prairie, and McKinney.  The Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, located in North Texas, is one of the fastest growing regions in the country thanks to the low cost of living, low taxes, abundance of resources, and ease of doing business.

Dallas got its start as a farming and ranching town.  Fort Worth was also a ranching town and a major center of cattle trading.  The Fort Worth Stockyards were the starting point of the cattle drives, a time when cowboys on horses herded cattle up to the rail lines in Kansas for shipment to meatpacking plants in Chicago.  With so many rough-and-tumble cowboys passing through town, Fort Worth became known as an ill-mannered place full of unsavory characters and lots of violence.  Of course, the Dallas-Fort Worth area as we know it now is a well-developed and refined city, but much of that rugged cowboy spirit still exists today across the state of Texas.

This cowboy spirit is at the heart of what makes Dallas-Fort Worth an attractive area for large corporations and small businesses alike.  It is a place where economic freedom is part of the culture, and regulations and taxes are kept to a minimum.  Dallas-Fort Worth has the third-largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the United States and there is a long list of corporations that have relocated to the area from other parts of the country.  With a talented workforce and central location that offers easy access to U.S. markets, there are also many foreign companies operating in Dallas-Fort Worth, including over 70 British companies.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), located halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth, is the primary international airport for the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.  DFW Airport is a hub for American Airlines, which has nonstop flights to London-Heathrow along with British Airways.  DFW provides service to 260 destinations and serves over 75 million passengers a year.  Dallas Love Field (DAL) is a secondary airport serving domestic passengers and is the corporate headquarters for Southwest Airlines.  Southwest, Delta and Alaska Airlines all provide service to DAL.

Dallas does not have a British consulate, so if you are a British national living in or visiting Texas and require urgent assistance, you must call the British consulate in Houston by dialing +1 713 210 4000.  The British consulate in Houston can also provide an emergency passport if you are stuck abroad and need to return quickly to the United Kingdom.  The drive from Dallas to Houston takes about 3 ½ hours on Interstate 45 South.
